Taking Shape Short Documentary

Synopsis:

Do we allow ourselves the freedom and grace to explore, struggle, and learn before our ultimate purpose can be revealed? Driven by the voice of ceramicist and production sound mixer Nate McLaughlin, Taking Shape is about how opening up to new, sometimes uncomfortable, experiences can create a deeper sense of appreciation for what's around you. Nate chooses to let passion lead his life pursuits, a level of control that has not always been a clear option for him.

Taking Shape focuses on the journey of ceramic vessels in the pottery studio, but Nate's commitment to exploring that which lies outside of his comfort zone extends to other areas of his life as well. For example, his desire to maintain friendships and spend time with loved ones requires effort while managing stressful life responsibilities. At the heart of this documentary is the notion of allowing a space for art to exist without an immediately expressed purpose.
